Rockstar Energy Drink Moves into Title Position of 2006 U.S. Open

AURORA, Ill. (July 24, 2006) – The U.S. Open today announced that Rockstar Energy Drink has filled the title sponsorship position for the Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open inside Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena October 13-14.

Rockstar Energy Drink enters their first-ever U.S. Open sponsorship where they will sample their widely popular energy drink to the thousands of off-road motorcycle racing fans that make up the hard-to-reach 18-34 demographic. Another key component to the sponsorship will be prominent coverage on the soon-to-be announced television package. In addition Rockstar Energy Drink will host an interactive pit display where fans can familiarize themselves with the company’s mission.

“We are pleased to welcome Rockstar Energy Drink as the title sponsor for the U.S. Open,” said Tim Murray, senior vice president of sales, U.S. Open. “This year’s event is being billed as the most competitive ever, and Rockstar Energy Drink will definitely be a great anchor for weekend’s festivities.”

Celebrating its ninth consecutive season, the coveted Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open traditionally sells out the MGM Grand Garden Arena, making it the perfect showcase for companies interested in aligning themselves with professional off-road motorcycle racing.

"Rockstar Energy Drink is excited to announce a broader, deeper commitment this year to the sport with our title sponsorship of the U.S. Open," said Mike Kelso, National Marketing Director, Rockstar Energy Drink.  "Our involvement with this much anticipated annual event will spread awareness of our brand through a creative on-site program with Live Nation and through heavy consumer promotions."

Built into this year's Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open format will be the three part Toyota Trucks Trifecta bonus program that will pay additional money to the fastest qualifier for each night's event, a bonus to each night's holeshot winner and a bonus for any rider that can complete the Toyota Trucks Trifecta challenge by being the fastest qualifier, getting the holeshot and winning the main event. Any rider that hits the Toyota Trucks Trifecta will earn a $50,000 bonus each night in addition to the regular event purse and any rider that can "Double Down" and hit the Toyota Trucks Trifecta both nights will walk away with $250,000 for the weekend.
