Mike Alessi Interview
By Mike Farber (Racer X Brand Manager)

Mike Alessi has been surrounded by controversy throughout his career. Sometimes Mikey gets the bad end of the deal but the kid just loves to win. At the end of the supercross season he decided to move up to the Motocross class and compete against the likes of Carmichael and Stewart. He has turn a lot of heads and the upper classman have been impressed with his results. This year, Mikey will be competing in the Supercross class at the US Open. Let’s see what he has to say.

Mike, how are things?
Things are going really well and I’m getting use to the 450.

Are you going to compete in the Rockstar Energy Drink US Open this year?
I would really like to because I’ve heard it’s really fun.

This year is the 10th anniversary, how many have you participated in?
I raced there on my 80’s. I think it was the first year they had it.

What did you think of the format last year with the Trifecta?
Actually, since I’m on the big bike, I’ve been looking into it because that’s a lot of money to win in a weekend.

What do you think about the AMA Supercross class and the AMA Supercross Lites class being combined into one ‘open’ class at Las Vegas?
I think it’s a great idea because it will definitely shake up the results.

What bike do you think is better?
I think the bigger bikes will have the advantage off the start but the smaller bike will be better coming out of the turns. I also think the racing is going to be really tight.

Would you like having different tracks every night?
I always like having different tracks because the better riders adapt quicker and that’s a big advantage.

Why do you think fans should come and check out this race?
Who doesn’t like going to Vegas!

They say the US Open is a “HUGE” party! I’m sure it has something to do with the race being held in Vegas. How do you feel about it?
I’m not much of a partier but I like hanging out in Vegas.

What makes it so different from the Supercross Finals also held in Vegas?
I think the US Open is different because there are no points on the line. Plus, it’s an event that happens once a year.
Any final notes for the fans?
Come out and have a good time with us.
