Kelly Smith Interview
By Mike Farber (Racer X Brand Manager)

Kelly Smith has had a lot of ups and downs in his career but he keeps fighting back. He’s not a flashy racer but he knows how to win on a motorcycle. He has won an outdoor national, Four-stroke national championship, and the US Open in the Lites class. Let’s see what Kelly thinks of the US Open in Vegas.

Kelly, are you going to compete in the Rockstar Energy Drink US Open this year?
Yes, most likely. After all, I do ride for Rockstar.

This year is the 10th anniversary, how many have you participated in?
At least six.

Your best finish at the US Open?
I won the U.S. Open in the Lites class in 2005, and I won the four-stroke
class a few years prior to that.

What did you think of the format last year with the Trifecta?
I think any added bonus is great.

Did you like having different tracks every night?
Yes, I like it because it's truly a new event each night.

Why do you think fans should come and check out this race?
It's the tightest racing and the most action you'll see in Supercross.

They say the US Open is a “HUGE” party! I’m sure it has something to do with the race being held in Vegas. How do you feel about it?
For me, it's another event on the schedule but I like going to Vegas.

What makes it so different from the Supercross Finals also held in Vegas?
It's an indoor event and the track conditions stay much better.

Any final notes for the fans?
Come and cheer on the #47 Rockstar Suzuki!
