Reigning Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open Lites Champion Josh Grant Squares off Against Top AMA Supercross Class Racers

AURORA, Ill. (August 21, 2007) – The Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open announced today that  reigning U.S. Open Lites class champion Josh Grant, of Riverside, Calif., will compete in this year’s revamped ‘open class.’

This year’s race format will combine the Lites class with the premier AMA Supercross class in a best-of-the-best weekend of racing. Grant, 21, dominated both nights of Lites racing last year on the way to his first-ever Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open championship.

“The new open-class format will definitely offer better racing, and this will help condense the schedule of racing,” said Grant. “The prize money at the U.S. Open is awesome, so we will all be ready to race.”

Does either bike have an advantage?

“Each bike has strengths and weakness,” said Grant referring to the 250F and 450F motorcycles. “The 450 helps you get over obstacles easier and the 250 handles better.”

After a long 2007 AMA Supercross and AMA Motocross season, Grant will use the Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open as a way to prepare for 2008.

“The U.S. Open is a fun race because you are in a race setting before the up-coming supercross season starts,” added Grant. “Racing with the guys in the premier class gives us a chance to see where we (Lites riders) stack up next to the world’s best.”
