Jason Thomas Interview
By Mike Farber (Racer X Brand Manager)

Jason Thomas has had a really good career in racing motocross and supercross. He comes from the state of Florida which has produced a lot of fast riders over the years. Even though Jason has never made it to the factory level he has landed rides through the years with some top privateer teams and has been one of the most consistent riders on the circuit. After the Subway team folded last year the Butler Brothers quickly picked him up for this year. During the winter, JT travels all over the world to try and make as much money as he can by doing European races and preparing for the upcoming SX season. That’s why the Rockstar Energy Drink US Open is so important to these guys because it a great race and someone like Jason can walk away with some good cash in their pocket. Let’s see what JT has to say about the Rockstar Energy Drink US Open.

Jason, are you going to compete in the Rockstar Energy Drink US Open this year?

JT: Of course, I love that race and I plan on racing it every year.

This year is the 10th anniversary, how many have you participated in?

I’ve raced there seven times and had a blast each time. There’s just something about that race that is really cool.

What did you think of the format last year with the Trifecta?

It doesn’t benefit me too much but it’s fun watching Stewart and Carmichael go after it!  It’s just cool to be part of the program though.

Did you like having different tracks every night?

Having different tracks each night is great! It makes the racing a lot more even and you have to be a fast learner.

Why do you think fans should come and check out this race?

It’s such a unique race being in the Garden Arena at the MGM and no other race has the same atmosphere.

They say the Rockstar Energy Drink US Open is a “HUGE” party! I’m sure it has something to do with the race being held in Vegas. How do you feel about it?

It is more of a party. It’s in Vegas and the regular season is over so there is less pressure and it’s more low key.

What makes it so different from the Supercross Finals also held in Vegas?

For the SX finale in Vegas, the outdoors start in two weeks so everyone is a little preoccupied with getting their set-ups and other bikes ready for the season. For the US Open you can just go there and race and have a good time.
Any final comments for the fans?

Come out and join the party!
