Jake Weimer Interview
By Mike Farber (Racer X Brand Manager)

Jake Weimer is a kid that not too many people knew about until he entered the pro ranks. Since then, Jake has been a top contender in both Supercross and Motocross. Last year, he finished third at the US Open and many thought he had a chance to win the overall. Let’s see what he thinks about the US Open.

Jake are you going to compete in the Rockstar Energy Drink US Open this year?

JW: I would love to and I’ve done it for the past two years. It’s always a fun race to go to but I’ll have to wait and see what the team wants me to do.

What did you think of the format last year with the Trifecta?

I would really like to see it in the Lites class too. It just adds so much to program that weekend.

Did you like having different tracks every night?

I thought it was awesome having the different tracks each night! It separates a lot of the riders who can learn the tracks quickly.

Why do you think the fans should come and check out this race?

The racing is always good and there’s so many battles going on through the pack. There’s guys battling for 15th and that’s what makes the race so good. It’s tight, so there’s a lot of passing going on.

They say the Rockstar Energy Drink US Open is a “Huge” party! I’m sure it has something to do with the race being held in Vegas. How do you feel about it?

For me, if I’m going racing, it’s about the racing but we all have a good time in Vegas. How couldn’t you?

What makes it so different from the Supercross Finals also held in Vegas?

For us, it’s two separate deals. In the Lites, you go there for the Dave Coombs Sr. Shootout and there are no points on the line. It’s all about winning that final supercross. But then with the US Open it’s all about the bragging rights!

Any final notes for the fans?

I think if you’re a fan, you can take a vacation and see some great racing.
