David Vuillemin Interview
By Mike Farber (Racer X Brand Manager)

David Vuillemin has to be one of the most unique riders on the circuit. When David first came over from France he was a title contender off the bat! He had fierce battles with Jeremy McGrath and Ricky Carmichael and almost won the supercross championship twice. Over the years he has been a consistent top five rider and this year he was the top privateer in the Amp’d Mobile Supercross Series. Let’s see what DV 12 thinks about the US Open.

David, are you going to compete in the Rockstar Energy Drink US Open this year?

Absolutely, because I really like that race. Who doesn’t like racing in Vegas?

This year is the 10th anniversary, how many have you participated in?

I’ve raced there three or four times and I also raced there the very first time they held the event. I was really young and still racing in France so we made the trip over here.

Your best finish at the US Open?

I finished second one year.

What did you think of the format last year with the Trifecta?

I think its good to have that much money up for grabs and you never know who’s going to pull that off.

This past year you came out did your “goon” ride. What brought that on?

I just wanted to do something different for the crowd and it worked because they loved it!

Did you like having different tracks every night?

It’s good because when you have a small track like that you need something different for the second night.

Why do you think fans should come and check out this race?

It’s a fun race because there’s a lot of contact and the racing is really tight. The best part about this race is if you get a good start you have a good chance to be on the podium and make yourself so good cash.

They say the US Open is a “HUGE” party! I’m sure it has something to do with the race being held in Vegas. How do you feel about it?

What more can you say? It’s Vegas!

What makes it so different from the Supercross Finals also held in Vegas?

When we go to the Vegas supercross everything is pretty much set with the championships. When, we go to the US Open, it’s a two night event and there’s a lot more money on the line.

Any final notes for the fans?

Make sure you come this year because you never know what’s going to happen.
